Information
2001.06.01 - First Model Release
From the minds of the same design team that created the "Ape",
Honda Motor Co.,
Ltd. (Japan) released this new model for people who like a tough
style with bigger tires. The original name in Japan is called "ZOOMER",
the name and design present a new urban style with unlimited possibilities,
also a revolutionary on new panel-less body style.
The engine is an extend version of "Smart
Dio". A 4-Stroke SHOC 2-Valves liquid-cooled engine, progressive
designed Engine Control Module (ECM) provides control for ignition
timing, alternator regulator, ACG starter, electric fuel pump and
automatic choke. Fuel-sipping constant-velocity (CV) carburetor for
even better fuel economy, starter system utilizes the engine's brushless
alternator (ACG) for starting, automatic cam-chain tensioner requires
virtually no maintenance with ultra-quiet exhaust system. 2-piece
die-cast aluminum front frame with upper steel rear frame, besides
looking "offraod", let you do your own maintenance much
easier.
Wayne's Opinion
2005.01.31 - Vancouver, CANADA
You can't ask too much from a 50cc 4-Stroke engine, stock speed is
around *58km/hr maximum (2005 model)
on flat ground, although it would be different if it's a 3 or 4 valve
engine. However the liquid-cooled engine can continuing operate more
hours than air-cooled scooters, tune-up and repairs will cost you
more. The stock tires look wild and tough, but they will not give
you any better performance, infact they are even more slippery on
wet surfaces. Many ZOOMER / RUCKUS owners gave us feedback concerning
the lack of lockable enclosed storage space (Something to seriously
consider before purchasing one.).
There are not many ways for you to increase the engine performance.
Maximum speed will be around *72km/hr
(2005 model) on flat ground after upgraded
transmission, CDI, exhaust pipe & tires. The only way to get real
speed is a complete engine swap. However, there are tons of decorating
parts for light, frame, seat, handle bar, floor board... etc.,
if you don't care about the speed, this is an excellent scooter for
showing off some customizing. You can then ride it and wave to people
on the street, and since you'll be moving at a snails pace, people
will get to see what you've done to your scooter. The average retail
price in North America should be around USD $1,800 ~ $1,950 plus applicable
taxes only.
See FAQ section for more info about this
model.
* The result
is based on our demo model, depending on scooter, rider and road's
conditions, result may very.
